Being a female driver I find it difficult to understand why men can sometimes become so uptight and angry behind the wheel and reveal the twisted Jekyll side of their personality through road rage. Such an example of sheer hatred towards another motorist is extremely dangerous and therefore it is of no surprise that road rage can source a number of car accident compensation claims.

But this morning I found myself acting out a car chase scene from a Hollywood blockbuster, giving dirty looks to a male driver who wouldn't let me join a lane. All of the other motorists had let the cars in front of me out one-by-one and so it was my turn to be allowed to join the lane! His decision not to let me out could have resulted in a car accident compensation claim.

I proceeded to stare point-blank into his rear-view mirror and he was left with no other option but to put his sunglasses on to avoid my evil eye. As the traffic began to move I somehow managed to overtake him and felt a great satisfaction as I passed his Ford Escort. But the story doesn't finish there, he then overtook me and gave me no alternative but to put my foot down and pass him once again until I needed to take the next exit.

This hazardous style of driving could have caused a serious road traffic accident and subsequent car accident claim for personal injury compensation. Fortunately, as I drove into work I realised the error of my ways and vowed never to drive so dangerously again.

Ignoring my morning episode of complete and utter madness, it's not so often that you see a woman expressing road rage, especially one who's waving her arms out the car window and giving an obscene hand gesture. Instead, we women usually tend to say something quietly to ourselves in the car when nobody is around to hear us mumble a four-letter swear word.

So, is there a scientific reason why men are more likely to have a car accident claim made against them for a crash that's been caused by road rage From what I can find on the internet, the answer is no. However, studies have suggested that a woman's frantic behaviour could be influenced by her father, who may have expressed episodes of road rage when she was a child. A study carried out by scientists from Finland examined the reactions of 174 women from Brazil and found that those who expressed signs of road rage had fathers who were also fond of using bad language. This type of driving can easily lead to motorists having to contact personal injury solicitors to make car accident claims.

A friend of mine from London said that she strongly agrees with this statement and believes that her cases of road rage have all been influenced by her father racing other motorists, cutting in, beeping his horn and causing all sorts of dangerous driving that could have led to a car crash.

My friend said, "I used to always be so frightened when my dad used to get angry in the car. There would always be somebody who would wind him up on the roads and he was endlessly shouting obscene words to people as he overtook them.

"But now I've realised that I do exactly the same thing. I never thought I would turn into one of those people who think they own the road. I'm just lucky that I haven't needed to make a car accident claim for a serious road traffic accident."

After my antics this morning I have definitely learned my lesson and the next time I get frustrated behind the wheel, I will try to remain relaxed and calm, I mean, a real lady wouldn't give a two finger salute would she I guess we'll find out on the drive home!
