Anorexics are obsessed about being fat. When people who are obsessed about being fat look at the reflection of their bodies in the mirror, they imagine themselves as 'corpulent'. Most folks are shocked by this. Individuals who have never had similar body image issues simply fail to appreciate how someone who does not have any extra fat on their body can inspite of this see an overweight person in the mirror.

Individuals who have Anorexia are obsessed about being corpulent. They use up all their waking hours very much miserable with their body, and are bothered about it at all times. They simply cannot see themselves as others see them. They imagine themselves as fat as that is just the way in which they see themselves.

You may be wondering what excessive blushing and Anorexia have in common. There are really some similarities. I was recounting to my girlfriend about my former blushing problems. I told her how it was exceedingly distressing and how I felt totally out of control. The blushing was ruling over my entire life. She enquired how long was it prior to our seeing each other that I had recovered! If you have listened to my audio book, titled Blushing Free, you will know that the start of my relationship with my girlfriend was when I had a few of my nastiest blushing episodes ever. Whenever I saw her, I would feel my cheeks redden and become hot. The more I could feel it, the more I blushed with loss of composure. It was a vicious circle. I could really feel myself sweating once in a while.

When I said this to her, she sounded completely all at sea and she did not seem to comprehend what I was talking about. She wanted to know how long it was before we began seeing each other that I had recovered! I had presumed she would nod and say that she, also, wondered what was going on at that time. But I was completely shocked at her reaction.

A few days thereafter, the penny finally dropped. I did something a tad discomfitting and even people who don't go red in the face much would have turned red at this. I said to my girlfriend, "See how red in the face I am going" and I looked in the mirror to confirm my feelings. She told me I was moderately pink but nothing more. She thought I was making a mountain of a mole hill! To myself, I could see a red-faced man looking back at me from the mirror. In her eyes, she was seeing somebody who was "a little pink" but no worse than anybody else. I had wondered why she had never commented on my excessive blushing in the past. This made me compare people who are obsessed about being fat with blushers.

If you experience the problem of blushing too much, you have a giant fear of it. This distorts your image of your body and you see your blushing far worse than it actually seems to other folks or how it really is in reality. Telling a a person who blushes chronically that it is mainly in their mind and their blushing is not that bad is like trying to tell an anorexic that he/she is lean.

Always try to remember that your turning red in the face gives the impression of being much more dreadful to you than it really is. It might not upset people who are near you and other folks may not even notice it. If you can bear that in mind, you will be a little bit closer to getting rid of your excessive blushing problem forever.
